The George Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western will captivate you from the moment you step through our revolving doors, with its nostalgic decor and old-world charm. The oak beams, antique furniture and old local wall prints combine to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, no wonder so many of our guests return year after year. This 300-year-old Grade II-listed hotel is even reputed to have had a famous royal visitor in its time - Bonnie Prince Charlie is said to have spent the night here in 1745. Standing proudly in the center of the delightful market town of Penrith, the hotel is a fantastic base for exploring the breath-taking Lake District and Eden Valley, with Ullswater only 4 miles away. Enjoy a cruise on a steamer or walk for miles. All rooms are beautifully furnished, with large comfortable beds and hospitality trays. If you want to push the boat out, why not upgrade to one of our Club Rooms or Feature Suites, complete with bathrobes, mineral water and other luxurious touches?
